Winter Blanket Drive

We have successfully completed our Winter Blanket Drive. Winter is always hard if you don't have a roof above your head and the winter rains make it almost unbearable. This winter we wanted to share a little warmth with the needy people who live on the streets. Our aim was to provide as many blankets as we can. We bought around 170 heavy and durable blankets.

Our team distributed these blankets to the homeless people on the roadsides of Khilgaon, Shyamoli, Mirpur, and some other areas in Dhaka. These people live in these areas beside the rail line and on the streets in makeshift houses made with plastics and sacks. Some of them are beggars and some break bricks to maintain their families. The money they get at the end of the day is not sufficient even for buying three proper meals a day let alone buying a blanket. They really needed these blankets.

The rest of the blankets were distributed in two orphanages, one in Dhanmondi, Dhaka, and the other in Moinpur, Brahmanbaria. These orphanages function on local donations. Their tin-shedded houses are so rundown that they couldn't even keep the kids warm during the day and at night it is worse. They did not have enough blankets for all the kids. When our team heard about their situation, they provided them with the rest of the blankets. They were very happy to receive these blankets at a time like that.
