Bangladesh celebrates National Martyrs' Day on February 21. This day is commemorated to memorialize and honor those who gave their lives for the Bengali language in 1952. In 1999, UNESCO declared that day to be International Mother Language Day. This day is currently celebrated on a global scale to encourage multilingualism and raise awareness of linguistic and cultural diversity.
With our team, our sponsored kids participated in the day's activities. They learned about the significance of the day and paid their respects to the martyrs by laying flowers at Shahid Minar (a monument to commemorate the martyrs of the language movement).
