The heart of our community came alive as children gathered right in
their slum for a special Shapla Library reading circle. To make the
experience even more exciting, books were carefully chosen based on their
age groups, from colorful picture books for the little ones to adventurous
chapter books for the older kids. Sitting together in a cozy circle, they
took turns reading aloud, chapter by chapter, each voice adding its color
to the stories. Sometimes the group fell silent, hanging on to the next
twist, and other times they burst into laughter at a funny scene. The air
was filled with curiosity, joy, and the simple magic of shared
storytelling.
It wasn’t just about reading; it was about creating a
space for friendship, inspiration, and imagination, right where they live.
For many of the children, this was a treasured time to escape into new
worlds while still being surrounded by familiar faces and friends. At
Shapla, we believe that reading is more than just a skill; it’s a doorway
to possibilities. And when that doorway opens in the very heart of a
child’s own community, the impact is even more powerful.
