Every year, Shapla Foundation proudly observes Global Handwashing Day with its sponsored children across different areas of Bangladesh. This year was no exception, our children once again came together to celebrate this important day, learning and sharing valuable lessons about hand hygiene.
The program focused on teaching the rules and importance of proper handwashing, emphasizing how such a simple habit can prevent illness and promote overall well-being. Through engaging discussions and practical demonstrations, the children learned the correct steps of washing hands and why it’s essential to do so regularly, especially before meals and after using the restroom.
Our Dhaka-based children attended the session with great enthusiasm and curiosity. All the kids took part with full energy, asking questions and helping others understand the importance of keeping hands clean. Their excitement reflected the true spirit of the day. learning through participation and spreading awareness through action.
What made this year even more special was the involvement of our children living outside Dhaka. They not only took part in the event remotely but also became little educators in their own neighborhoods. Inspired by the session, they shared what they had learned with other children around them, demonstrating proper handwashing steps and explaining why it matters.
This ripple effect of knowledge and awareness is what makes the initiative so meaningful. Each child becomes a messenger of health, helping others adopt habits that can protect families and communities alike.
