It was back in 2004, when I first thought about sponsoring a child after watching a late night infomercial about sponsoring a child in a third world country. In fact, I actually inquired about few foundations that sponsor children and asked the question of How much of the $30/month actually go to a child?
I was never satisfied with the answers because none of the program showed me how much of my money was actually used on the child I would sponsor. So, in 2011, I joined a few close friends and started our own foundation with hope to solve the mystery of how much of my money would be used on a child.
Im a programmer, so, I developed a back-end system to keep track of all activites related to a child in terms of money used and report it back to the sponsor. Of course, its easier said than done but we keep trying and hope that one day we will have good accountability system to make sure our sponsors know exactly how their money is being spend on their sponsored children
So far, it has been a fun ride working with Shapla Foundation and really hope that we can take this foundation to a level where we make a positive impact in the world.
